I ordered two country ham halves weeks ago — and promptly received an e-mail from Nancy Newsom confirming my order.

Today, she called me to say that aging had been speeded up by extremely hot weather in Western Kentucky and she could ship my hams if I wanted – or I could continue to let ‘em age. I chose a Dec. 1 shipping date — just in time for the holidays.

Man, talk about customer service! I grew up in this part of Kentucky and have been longing for a Newsom ham for years — now the UPS man will bring me one.
