French Carry-out Opens on Broughton Street
Chef Herve and Ann Marie Apgar have opened Papilotte, a French cuisine-to-go restaurant in downtown Savannah.
The restaurant features an amazing array of French-inspired items like tartines, fresh soups and a baked goods case that’s brimming with delicious treats.
On my recent visit, I tried a lump crab tartine, fresh fruit salad in light ginger syrup and lip-smacked my way through a wonderfully buttery and crumbly wedge of gateau breton. Everything was fresh, flavorful and a welcome step away from the usual.
A communal table offers limited seating; beverages are bottled or canned from a chilled case. Expect the little eatery to soon have a small selection of wine. Gift baskets and gift certificates are available.
Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday noon-5 p.m.
218 W. Broughton St., 912.232.1881

On April 22 from 6 to 8 pm, Earth Day, there will be a book launch for Living Above the Store by local sustainable business owner, Martin Melaver. It’s something he’s been working on, on the side, for the past 4 years.
The book launch will double as the grand opening of Papilotte. Wine and light fare.
The food is very good! While downtown walking around I have been popping in and snacking on their sweets! YUMM!
