I road-tripped to Garden City today to sample the Harbor House Restaurant home-cooked buffet.

My friend Ed joined me, and we had a great time catching up on and solving community issues.

Seriously, one issue I hope I solved is with Chef Etta’s steam table. While the flavors of my smothered chicken, mashed potatoes and mac-and-cheese hit the mark — the temperature did not. Apparently, there is an electrical problem with her 220-amp service.

The cornbread muffin was not too sweet — usually a fault in these joints — but I must say the banana pudding was of rock star quality — with a thick layer of whipped cream, plenty of ‘nilla wafers and lots of fresh bananas!

Open breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meat-n-three options change daily.

I read your twitter post about the banana pudding and it really made me jealous… That’s a shame about the temperature.
