Sometimes, you just gotta have a good gyro sandwich!
I love the flavors, the warm pita bread, the fresh tomatoes, onions and creamy tzatziki sauce…but I’ve always been a little curious about where — and what — that revolving piece o’ meat is all about.
Today, I spied this New York Times video that answers those questions and more. And, grratefully, it looks no shortage of “gyron cones” is in our future!

Funny, as many as I’ve eaten I’ve never considered where the meat came from. Apparently my friends and I have been saying it wrong all these years, we all that it was “your-o”. The guys at Olympia certainly never corrected us, neither did the folks at the Greek Festival.
