Owner of Hendry Wines is Guest at Vic’s on the River Dinner

Thursday, March 11, 6 p.m. Vic’s on The River, 26 E. Bay St., $79 pp++. Call Sean Dylan for reservations 912.721.1000.

The guest for this special evening of food and Hendry wines is the vineyard owner, George Hendry.

Visitors to the Hendry tasting room clamor for time with George, whose unmatched attention to detail, skill as a storyteller and wine educator and vast knowledge of wine making are as legendary as his wines.
This is a second career to George, who also owns Cyclotron Inc. There, he was instrumental in invention and development of particle accelerators that are used to save lives through medical imaging devices.
Whether growing grapes, making Hendry wines or designing cyclotrons, George applies the same tenacity and ability to apply fundamental concepts. His detailed approach to winegrowing has earned a reputation that is reflected in the vineyards and in the wines.

This is certain to be one of this season’s most talked about wine and food events that you will not want to miss!

Vic’s Executive Chef Dusty Grove, formerly of 700 Drayton, has prepared an exquisite, finely crafted menu to match these equally hand-crafted wines. The evening’s fare will include:

* Seared scallop, strawberry-ginger gastrique and baby watercress
2008 Hendry Rose

* Butterscotch glazed quail stuffed with roasted squash mousse and apricot brioche.
2005 Hendry Chardonnay (barrel fermented)

* Pan roasted striped bass, baby beet and parsnip hash with star anise-orange coulis and cherry glaze
2007 Hendry Pinot Noir

* Coriander crusted lamb loin with smoky collard greens, roasted shallots, blue cheese, lavender-vanilla sauce and blueberry coulis
2006 Blocks 7 and 22 Zinfandel

* Ported chocolate ganache with vanilla sea salt and chervil crème anglaise; Goat cheesecake with pomegranate glaze; Citrus espresso gelé
2005 Hendry Red Wine
